When to see the doctor again

After an uncomplicated vaginal delivery, you’re likely to stay in the hospital for 24 to 48 hours. If you have an uncomplicated c-section, you’ll probably be in the hospital for two to four days.

Your child’s doctor will likely ask you to bring your baby in for a check-up in the first week after you leave the hospital and again when your baby is 10 to 14 days old. If your child has any health problems, such as unexpected weight loss or jaundice, you may see the pediatrician more often in the first few weeks. Regular well-child doctor visits will start when your baby is one month old.
