Guide for Fuller Lips

Draw (Slightly) Outside the Lines

With lip fillers on the rise, it seems that when it comes to lips, bigger is best. Everywhere we turn, we see pillowy, plush pouts that waver on the extreme side. Since we’re all about turning up the drama — with makeup — we have no problem turning up the plump … and the easiest way to get the augmented lip look is by drawing them in. All you need is lip liner, setting powder, lipstick, following tips and you’ll be ready to roll!

Step 1. Lightly dust your upper and lower lip with translucent setting powder, to prevent the lip color from bleeding or fading.

Step 2. Grab a natural or light brown lip liner and line your lips. Make sure to follow this foolproof lining method:

●     Start by heavily lining the curve of your bottom lip. Make sure you’re lining just slightly outside of your lip’s natural shape in this area. Then, line the sides of your bottom lip, making sure to stay within the lip’s natural shape (you don’t want to make the lips look too exaggerated or clown-like).

●     Line the top lip by sticking to the natural lip shape when working on the sides and extending the liner just slightly outside of the lip’s borders when lining the cupid’s bow.

●     Color in the inner borders of the top and bottom lips, so there’s a bit of an ombré effect.

Step 3. Fill in your lips with a natural, matte lipstick. Use a lip brush or press your lips together several times to ensure the color is blended in well with the lip liner. And viola, a naturally plump pout!

Work That Cupid’s Bow

Successfully landing any trend starts with a strong foundation, which is why the Cupid’s bow is such a vital component in the full-lip game. And, even if you don’t have a super-defined bow, every girl should know how to line it (and fake it) the right way. If you’re not one for the steady hand, don’t fret. Drawing in your Cupid’s bow is a matter of “X marks the spot.” So, pick up your lip liner and follow how to Create the Perfect Cupid’s Bow

Pick Up the Highlighter

If you’re short on time and don’t have a minute to line your lips, we have a little tip that will accentuate your lips and make them appear fuller within seconds. And, all it takes is a quick dab of highlighter. Pick up your fave liquid illuminator and follow the tips below. We promise you’ll love the results.

Step 1: Swipe on a little lip balm to hydrate your lips and create a smoother canvas.

Step 2: Grab a liquid-based highlighter (these are best, as they make your skin look dewy and supple) and dab some on your Cupid’s bow. Blend it in well so the skin looks naturally shimmery.

Step 3: Apply a soft pink or peach lip gloss. The shiny, glossy texture will help make your lips appear fuller and much more plump!

Meet in the Middle

Just as important as your initial conquest for fuller lips, is the finishing touch. No matter what direction or tutorial you opt for, make sure you top off the look with a dab of gloss right on the middle of your pout. While it may seem like an insignificant step, this glossy touch helps accentuate the fullest part of your lips, so don’t skip it!

When In Doubt, Opt for the Quick Fix

If you don’t have the time or patience for any of the tips above, don’t worry. Pouty lips are still available to you via some good ol’ lip-plumping products. Designed for instant gratification, these temporary formulas are created to stimulate the lips and make them swell a bit (the good kind!). While painless and harmless, they usually tingle on initial contact, but within seconds, all you’ll notice are your new lips!
